Developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder


Symptoms / Signs

  • The world is difficult to understand for me. That often results in temper tantrums or hyperactive behaviour.

Current Treatments

  • Music therapy, which helps him a lot. Speech therapy. In Special Education at school. Medication. Lives a few days in the week on a care farm. 

Prior Treatments

  • Speech therapy. Tried many different medications (e.g. Ritalin was tried by the effect was opposite of that desired), but finding the right medication is difficult without a diagnosis. Parents went to a training program to learn about raising a child with autism.

Considered treatments

  • There situation is stable now. We hope to be able to live in a quieter environment in the future so J's health can benefit from it.

Genetic Variants of Interest

  • SNP-array negative, Fragile X testing negative, trio exome sequencing negative. Whole genome sequencing ongoing.

Bio

J is a very energetic boy with remarkable physical endurance. J is talented in music and has a good sense of direction. J can be very affectionate, but is also explosive. He likes most to go on weekend trips with the family. He collects tickets of holiday homes that we visit.
